My current research focuses on genetic aspects of wetland restoration, particularly in coastal areas. More specifically, research efforts are aimed at molecular marker-based assessments of genetic diversity in restored plant populations and the characterization of plant breeding systems, including levels of inbreeding depression as they relate to diversity. In addition, heritability estimation and marker-based selection for ecologically important traits are being applied to commonly restored species. Further studies are under way to assess levels of local genetic adaptation in species that are commonly translocated during restoration efforts.
