Fish Collection

The UL Lafayette fish teaching collection is housed in VLW 408, and currently contains about 1,124 lots (jars) representing about 214 species in 86 families.  This collection is primarily used for teaching Ichthyology (Bol. 445) and the taxonomic representation is focused largely on freshwater and marine species of Louisiana.  The collection is also used by professional scientists and student investigators, and is continually augmented through new collections and by means of specimen exchanges with other institutions.
